Magnification and light source is a crucial part of contemporary restorative dentistry. Dominic currently uses the Dragonfly Pro loupes (bought from Orascoptic).
- They give a very good quality light source and can magnify x3, x4 and x5 with just a simple click.
- The loupes use rechargeable batteries which screw in at the back. They come with three sets of rechargeable batteries so you can charge one, use one and have one spare. The battery life span is good – up to 4 hours in Dominic’s experience.
- They are comfortable on your face; they are nicely weighted. These loupes are not the lightest on the market but the weight balances without discomfort on the bridge of the nose due to the adjustable soft bridge, adjustable head size, and the tie at the back of the head (if needed). Loupes last you for many years so it is worth investing in a good set.
